Meet F&N intern, Jazmine Ngwu.
It’s official! Friends & Neighbors is all grown up, and we have our very own intern. Jazmine Ngwu comes to us through The BrandLab’s agency internship program, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her into the fold—with a very-F&N Q&A.
Name? Jazmine Ngwu
High school? Just graduated from De La Salle in May
Hometown? South Minneapolis
Astrologic sign? Leo
(Thank god. We needed some more fire signs around here.)
Are you good at small talk? Yeah, I think so… (she is.)
Favorite brands? Cover Girl, because I love the diversity of women they use and how they don’t just focus on what one person looks like—they try to go outside the box of traditional beauty standards.
(No, we didn’t write that for her…she’s 17-going-on-30.)
I also love Nike, I know that’s cliché because everyone loves Nike, but I love how they incorporate all different athletes. It’s really motivating and they just do it so well. I remember watching one commercial and I was just glued to the TV. Like, wow, they can do all that in just a one-minute commercial!
Why advertising? I love communication, and from there I thought “oh, marketing makes sense.” So now I’m trying to see if it’s something I really enjoy and if I think I could make it in this industry. This opportunity has been great, and I’m just learning and absorbing as I go.
What are doing in the fall? I’ll be starting college at Hamline University.
What are you most excited for about college? I think I’m most looking forward to just being completely independent and being able to learn and grow around people who are in the same place as I am. At college I think it’s different than high school because people are choosing to be there, so the drive seems really different. It feels like it will be a really good vibe to be around. I’m excited to be around different people and learn from cultures and get some new experiences.
(NOTE: Here’s where we get into the heavy-hitter questions. The real test if someone is F&N material—how do they respond to the food questions? Happy to report that Jazmine passed.)
Favorite food? I hate when people ask me that question! French fries, I guess. I will eat them all day, every day, twice a day. I’m obsessed.
Favorite condiment? Ketchup, or mayo and ketchup mixed together as a special occasion thing.
(Anyone who considers certain condiments as “special occasion things” is welcome at Friends & Neighbors.)
Top 5 candy hierarchy?
- Swedish Fish
- Jolly Ranchers
Salty or a sweet person? Sweets. But chips are my thing.
Dogs or cats? Dogs, I hate cats.
Clearly, we hit the intern jackpot. Thanks Jazmine!
